Stompin Tom Road

August 2nd, 1999 was a big day for Tom. He was presented with a street named after him in front of his Skinners Pond School House which acts as a Stompin' Tom museum. The day was packed with over 500 people, as well as TV camera crews, reporters.

Favorite guitar

Tom's favourite guitar was a Gibson Southern Jumbo acoustic. He purchased in 1956 while on his way through Ohio to Nashville.He discovered it in a furniture store, hidden in a case on the top of some shelf, and after some haggling, purchased it for $80. The guitar was used to audition in 1964 at the Maple Leaf Hotel in Timmins.Although retired in 1972, it remains in his possession.

He received an Doctor of Laws degree from St. Thomas University in 1993, which was the inspiration for his album titled Dr. Stompin' Tom Connors, eh?

Gumboot Cloggeroo

The album "Gumboot Cloggeroo", released in 1979, would be Tom's last. In a fit of frustration and disappointment, Tom returned all six of his Juno Awards, as a statement of protest,bcause when they were having concerts in Canada they were having American bands coming.
